Imagine this.

You pay your taxes, contribute to society, your beliefs are continuously attacked, misinterpreted, misunderstood. By half trues, and lies of ommission the media demonizes your value system every chance it can.

Now imagine the government intends on teaching your children, via the public school system you are paying taxes into, that your religious beliefs are incorrect. Is this something that should happen in a country such as ours? Should goverment be permitted to indoctrinate Canadian children to reject their parents’ faith and their parents’ family values.

Teaching proper social behaviour is a role of publicly funded schools. Absolutely teach our children that bullying others is not acceptable. This is a very different thing than imposing, via the curriculum, a set of moral beliefs that are in opposition to the religious beliefs of many Canadians. Let us teach our children to live peacefully and productively in the pluralistic society we live in, without infringing on the religious beliefs of others.

While we are at it, Dalton McGuinty’s Liberals should sit in on the lesson.

Hi Maureen,

Yes! We will definitely be posting responses to key turn of events in this struggle, as we have done in the past.

Another great place for updates would be the homepage of the Trans Health Lobby Group, where they have a "Latest Updates" section at the bottom of the page: http://translobbygroup.ca/

Similarly, our Facebook page will have as-it-happens information since individuals post news items and updates as soon as they become available. You can check for updates there as well, which is where we get most of our information (aside from our email, of course): https://www.facebook.com/groups/224353105294/

"we are calling on the Government of Ontario to do the following"
...
"include [more] human rights protections ... in ... the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Criminal Code of Canada"

Last I checked, those were Canada's constitution and laws, not Ontario's. I don't disagree, but requests should be addressed to the proper government.

Why will Bill 13 fail? or Why we need an Ombudsman for Education.
1.	School boards operate in their own self interest with little or no concern for the safety of children. One child has disappeared from the steps of a London Ontario School without a single independent review of policies or procedures that lead to the death of a young child stolen from the steps of a school. This is not in any way isolated as a young girl disappeared from a Toronto school without a single trace of an independent review of her disappearance.
2.	School boards have massive resources to pay for any legal defence of parents suing school boards. http://www.owensoundsuntimes.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2781729
3. School administrative staff are not only paid more than the Premier of the Province but they have access to entire public relations departments in each school board to make the board look like the board is doing their jobs. Many school Boards spend hundreds of thousands of dollars advertising programs after programs have started and been in operation so the public accepts questionable practices.
4. No suicides or attempted suicides related to bullying has in any way been stopped by school board policies.
5.	School administrators can ignore the Criminal Code of Canada. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/ottawa/story/2010/05/29/ott-lawsuit-defence-ashbury-college.html
6.	School Boards are aided by the Ontario College of Teachers by ignoring the courts decisions and allow convicted sex offenders to teach in Ontario. http://www.oct.ca/investigations_hearings/decision_summaries/sept_03/sept_abdallah.aspx?lang=en-CA
7.	School Boards can ignore their moral responsibilities including the obligation to protect victims from abusing teachers such as Julia Webb. http://www.oct.ca/investigations_hearings/decision_summaries/dec_05/dec05_webb.aspx?lang=en-CA
8.	The World Health Organization can and has identified Canadian schools as some of the worst in the world for Bullying. The Bill does not recognise these issues and clearly ignored the obligation to protect all children. http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive/May2010/26/c6691.html
9.	School Boards have allowed outrageous conduct by school board administrators such as allowing a school principal who was charged and convicted for throwing dog feces at a child to be merely transfer to a better school. http://www.thestar.com/News/article/226840
10.	School Boards in Ontario and the Ontario College of Teachers not only control the massage in the media they fine, suspend, and reprimand teachers who protest any questionable practises. http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/jun/09061713.html
11.	School boards have allowed years of abuse without lifting a finger to protect children. Nothing is expected to change. http://www.parentcentral.ca/parent/newsfeatures/article/727868--why-canada-can-t-stop-bullies http://www.ottawacitizen.com/health/Catholic+board+faces+lawsuit+over+bullying/2564937/story.htm

I’m more offended by your use of double quotation marks inside other double quotation marks. We’re supposed to write the acute accent in Mulé 100% of the time, but your press release – a tired 20th-century concept in the first place – can’t even manage correct copy?
